We are so excited about the progress of the Next Generation of Aeries. As we continue to move forward, our goal is to keep our users informed about the exciting upcoming features. Are you ready to jump in?
Student information is the heart and soul of what you do. The Next Generation of Aeries is going to ensure that your student information is easily accessible and well-organized. In Aeries Classic, the Student Demographics page is a wealth of information, but not all of it is necessarily relevant to a user of that page. In the Next Generation of Aeries, some data, such as enrollment dates, will live in other parts of the system, rather than on the Student Information page. The Student Information page will be a repository for characteristics about the student, such as birthdate, gender, race, and more.
Additionally, field-level security will be honored in a different way: a user who does not have access to a particular piece of data will not see any reference to the data. One of the most useful features of our user interface in NextGen is that users will have the option of adding tabs of related data to the basic Student Information page, so those items that have been moved elsewhere can actually be brought back onto dedicated tabs on the Student Information page. This will provide a customized user experience that makes sense.
Enrollment management encompasses many processes and pages in Aeries Classic. Entry/exit dates, leaver reason, attendance programs, grade changes, inter/intra- district transfers, state reported data, are just a few examples. In the Next Generation of Aeries, we plan to make the process easier and more intuitive with guided workflows and reminders. Additionally, there will be a single copy of a student’s record at the district level and then those records can be assigned to the appropriate schools through an enrollment record. Documents can be associated with each step, as appropriate. Finally, notifications can be configured to alert other staff members to follow-up responsibilities after a student’s enrollment.
We are really excited to roll out our Staff Management system! This will utilize one of our “universal components”: components that are available throughout the system for consistency in user experience. The universal component we are referring to here is the Aeries Data Table. This Aeries Data Table component will appear on many pages that present large sets of data in a columnar format. The Aeries Data Table will allow for enhanced sorting and filtering, as well as customizing visible columns and exporting data to CSV. The Staff Management page will also have the opportunity to create custom tabs, similar to the Student Information page. The Staff Management page will support direct data entry as well as import from Human Resources systems or other files via our API.
Building standards is an important part of the NextGen project. We want to provide consistency, predictability, and usability throughout the system. As such, we spent time developing standards for reports. Some of the highlights of our plan include honoring KEEP/SKIP/Use of Student Groups for all reports, optimized processing for faster delivery of reports, customizable and sharable reports, a variety of output options, and having output data first reported to the screen. Remember the Aeries Data Table mentioned above? We will utilize it here, as well, to assist with searching for reports and as an output mechanism.
