GETTING STARTED WITH AERIES® SIS

Fundamentals of Aeries® SIS - Overview of Aeries (#501-1)
Intended for the novice user of the Web Version of Aeries® SIS, this session will teach basic navigational skills used in Aeries. Pages, Reports, Favorites, function buttons, and form techniques will be included. This session will demonstrate the many tools available for districts and schools to monitor and improve student success.

Fundamentals of Aeries® SIS - Support Resources & New Users Round Table (#501-2)
Aeries strives to support users, no matter their role, with robust resources. This workshop will introduce the many support tools that are easily and quickly accessible. Time will be allowed for questions and answers.

Basics of Query (#250)
Basic procedures for creating and using Aeries Query statements in a request for data or information from your Aeries database. Basic Query will cover entering basic commands, the use of single table queries, selection of data fields, sorting data fields, and constructing simple conditions. This session is geared for the new Aeries user or Aeries users who have not worked with query before.

CALPADS Basics - Overview of CALPADS (#700) California schools only **Updated content
The California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) is a longitudinal data system used to maintain individual-level data including student demographics, course data, discipline, staff assignments, attendance, and other data for state and federal reporting. This session will give a brief overview of CALPADS in Aeries, the various data collections, and annual timelines. New extracts for PSTS and WBLR will be covered in the updated content.

Intro to the Parent/Student Portal (#150-1)
This session will provide an overview of the setup, navigation, and functions of the Aeries Student/Parent Portals. The session will include such topics as required setup pages, navigation the Navigation Tree in the UI, accessing multiple students' records, student calendar, viewing various forms and reports, and setting up Weekly Progress E-Mails and Alert Thresholds.

Aeries Financials – Tuition Billing, Donations Management, and Payments System (#875)
Ever wish that Aeries had a way to track billing and payments? Aeries Financials – powered by the trust and reliability of PayPal payments driven through LivingTree – have stepped up to make that wish come true. Complete with new access points for tracking and oversite of a payees account, Aeries has introduced a seamless transaction point in the Aeries Portals for admins, parents, and students. Learn about how to start processing payments within Aeries immediately, and optionally, upgrade to provide channels for raising funds and collecting donations, all done with oversite and accountability.

What’s New in the Aeries® SIS? – Overview (#565)
An overview of the major changes to Aeries since the last conference. This session will highlight key points and give background on each significant new feature. The goal of this session is to inform attendees about new features they might not know about and to encourage them to use these new features.

What’s New in the Aeries® SIS? – Deep Dive (#566)
A "Deep-Dive" into 3 to 5 significant new and upcoming features to Aeries. The actual items to be discussed will not be known until a few weeks before the conference when more detailed documentation will be made available for the topics to be covered. Topics may include recently added features to Aeries or features that are currently almost ready for release. The goal of this session is to prepare attendees for the use of these new features of Aeries and to answer any questions about them.

Aeries Vision for the Future / Development Plans (#230)

This add-on feature of Aeries allows for parents of new students to the district to enter enrollment information online. This session covers system setup and usage by administrators and parents.

An overview of Aeries Hosted Services: schools and districts moving Aeries to the Cloud. Also includes a discussion on the advantages of using Aeries Hosting and what to expect after moving to this environment. Intended for Aeries customers that are not already hosted by Aeries Software.

Did You Know…? (#541) 2-hour session
Have you ever said, "I want someone to teach me what I don’t know about the Aeries® SIS?" If so, this session may be for you. It will include a quick look at many of the screens, reports, and features that may have been around for a while, but either you missed the revision notes or the feature didn’t apply to you at the time. This session will focus on topics that apply to all schools.

Did Y'all Know (#541T) -Texas schools only**NEW
Don't know what you don't know? This is your chance to find out. This session will take a quick look at several Aeries features you may have missed. Chances are you will learn about an existing tool or feature that can help you with a task or simplify a process.

Student & Staff Account Automation with G Suite (#241-1)
Discover the advantages of letting Aeries dynamically automate your student and staff account management with G Suite & Google Classroom.  Automation through APIs will allow seamless authentication and ID management that will streamline districts' 1:1 device initiatives. Advanced features of interfacing Aeries SIS with these systems will be covered, as well as some of the technical details about how to configure these interfaces.

Student Account Integration with OneRoster, API & Apple School Manager (#241-2)
Discover the advantages of letting Aeries dynamically automate your account management and rostering with third-party systems. By leveraging a combination of OneRoster, the proprietary Aeries APIs, and the Aeries extract for Apple School Manager, districts can achieve seamless integration that will streamline LMS adoption, 1:1 device deployment, and more. Features of interfacing Aeries SIS with these systems will be covered, as well as some of the technical details about how to configure these interfaces.

Using G Suite Classroom Tools in an Aeries Classroom (#241-3)
This session will demonstrate how schools are utilizing Google G Suite to manage curriculum, assignments, and tests while tightly integrated with Aeries® SIS Gradebook. Participants will learn how Aeries integrates with Google G Suite and the steps to configure this interoperability.

The Ed-Fi Data Standard (#243)
This session will demonstrate how the Ed-Fi Data Standard brings together all of a school district’s data onto a single and secure platform, making it possible to have a complete view of student progress and success. Ed-Fi enables district/site administrators, counselors, and teachers to make fully-informed decisions based on multiple data points from various disparate systems. See how Aeries is preparing for this new data standard initiative and learn how Aeries early-adopter districts are now using Ed-Fi.

Aeries Communications - The Transition to ParentSquare (#197)
This session is for you IF you have recently migrated from the older version of Aeries Communications (Signal Kit) to ParentSquare. We will discuss the current integration roadmap and new features. Aeries Analytics™ – Intro to the Dashboards, Early Warning System (#220)
An overview of Aeries Analytics and the Early Warning System, and how to use Aeries Analytics can be used by district and school staff to easily access a wide variety student data indicators and identify students who may need intervention. This session is intended for districts who have not previously implemented Aeries Analytics.

Aeries Analytics™ – Advanced Analysis of Student Data (#225)
This session is targeted to districts that have purchased Aeries Analytics. The session will review the process on how to set up and configure Analytics Items and Dashboards, including how to create and manage Item Definitions, how to create and manage Dashboards, with specific examples of commonly used Dashboard items. This session is great for users who need a refresher on how to use Analytics, or for attendees who are new to Analytics.

Aeries Analytics™ Best Practices Case Studies Round Table (#227)
This session will demonstrate how school districts are using Aeries Analytics™ to monitor and track student success with great results. See how school staff are using Aeries Analytics™ to identify at-risk students and using this data to develop common counseling curriculum around academic/college/career, and social/emotional development for all students.

Aeries Analytics™ - Advanced Applications - Dynamic Groups and Extended Field Query (#228)
Aeries Analytics™ already provides data-packed dashboards to guide data-driven decision making. This session will show you how to take the power of Analytics data analysis even further by creating Dynamic Student Groups, and Extended Field queries.


Aeries Analytics™ - Teacher Applications (#229)**NEW
The power analyzing real-time student data using Aeries Analytics can be shared with teachers! This session will demonstrate samples of Dashboards that may be useful for to teachers, how to share the dashboards with teachers, and how teachers can utilize the data to quickly access data about their students.

QUERY

Basics of Query (#250)
Basic procedures for creating and using Aeries Query statements in a request for data or information from your Aeries database. This session is geared for the new Aeries user or Aeries users who have not worked with query before.

Intermediate Query (#255)
This session will build on the concepts introduced in the Basics of Query session. Topics in Intermediate Query will include using the  "TOTAL", "KEEP", and "SKIP" commands: saving and loading query statements, using "AND" or "OR", and multiple table queries at the elementary or secondary level. This session is intended for the Aeries user who has attended Basics of Query.

Query Tools (#260)
Query Tools will cover procedures for generating "Reports", "Letters", "Labels", and "Envelopes", along with the use of Query Letter Editor, which allows you to create letters that will contain text, along with merged data from a query statement.

Multi-Table Queries (#265)
Multi-table queries session will cover building complex query statements using multiple tables and fields. Also covered will be the use of the Database Table Information Report. Time will be allotted during the session for a round table group discussion building queries based on your questions or scenarios.

Advanced Query (#270)
Advanced Query will assist in tips for complex queries and give you an understanding of Aeries Table Relations. This session will also cover the "CHANGE" button and command, along with the use of Math Operations within query.

Advanced Interfacing with Data (#275)
For experienced users of Aeries Query, covers applying advanced filters, hiding columns, and applying other tricks to a query statement. Also will cover pivot tables in Excel and importing and exporting data using Excel with a focus on data evaluation.

SCHEDULING

Class Schedule Maintenance (#300)
Features of the "Classes" form used during the school year, and the impact to Course Attendance and Teacher Portal will be discussed. Included in the discussion will be student schedule changes, scheduling new students, and mass moving students to new classes.

Managing Scheduling Course Requests (#305-1)
An in-depth review of the main methods for collecting student course requests in Aeries: Import from Academic Plan, Mass Add Course Requests, and use of the Course Request form. A variety of middle and high school examples will be discussed, as well as examples of how the methods can be used in combination.

Student Course Requests using the Aeries Student Portal (#305-2)
When starting scheduling for next year, data entry of course requests is a critical initial step. In this session, learn how to use the Aeries Student Portal to gather student course requests. Topics will include configurations, and a preview of the student experience.

Student Scheduling for Next Year - Building the Scheduling Master Schedule (#310-1)
An overview of procedures, forms, and reports used to build a master schedule for next year.

Student Scheduling for Next Year - Scheduling Students (#310-2)
An overview of procedures, forms, and reports used to schedule students into classes for next year.

Master Schedule Building Theory (#320)
A discussion of the theory used to build a master schedule. This will include the sequence of steps used to place sections in the master schedule, and how to analyze the master schedule before students are scheduled. This session does not use any Aeries programs, but will help to understand the use of the Interactive Scheduling Master Schedule Builder which is included in session #330.

Flex Scheduling (#325)
Flex Schedulingis a new scheduling format that allows secondary school sites to build a master schedule using new features such asClass Calendars, Flex Periods, and the ability to associate multiple staff members to a sectionwhile still designating one person as a primary teacher. This session will highlight the uses and benefits of Flex, and show the steps involved with building a Flex Master Schedule.

Scheduling Master Schedule Board (#330)
Features of the Scheduling Master Schedule Board will be discussed. This will include moving sections to try "What if?" scenarios, scheduling students, looking at courses with rejected students, and using the Interactive SMS Builder to build the Scheduling Master Schedule.

Student Scheduling - Complex Schedules - Scheduling Groups and Teams (#340-1)
This session will focus on defining sections in the Scheduling Master Schedule to link sections to create teams, houses, academies, etc. Attendees should have a basic understanding of scheduling using Aeries.

Student Scheduling - Complex Schedules - Odd/Even, A/B, Rotating and 4X4 schedules (#340-2)
This session will focus on defining sections in the Scheduling Master Schedule for A-day B-day scheduling, rotating schedules and various block scheduling scenarios. Attendees should have a basic understanding of scheduling using Aeries.

Elementary with a Master Schedule (#341)
This session will discuss details associated with using a Master Schedule at Elementary and/or K-8 schools. The process of building an elementary master schedule, scheduling students, as well as attendance and grade reporting considerations will be covered.

Summer School Management (#345)
Some great changes to how Aeries manages Summer School courses and student enrollments have been completed this last year. See how to streamline your Summer School Course Request and Scheduling process with these new features.

Fundamentals of Career Pathways (#605-1) - California schools only
This course discusses changes made to Career Technical Education due to changes in the CA CTE State Plan in relation to Perkins V. Policies and procedures related to Career Pathways and Student Participants in relation to distance learning and the State Plan will also be discussed.  Aeries will show the process for correctly identifying Career Pathway courses and managing course file data and configurations related to Career Pathways, including how to manage college courses in pathways.

Career Pathway Student Management (#605-2) - California schools only
The Career Pathway Management page in Aeries gives schools a streamlined tool to tag Students as Career Pathway Concentrators and Completers. The State Reporting implications of Student career pathway data will also be discussed.

Individualized Academic Plans for Students (#610)
The Aeries "4 Year Plan" has been greatly enhanced recently. This feature is a great tool to help keep students on track for graduation and college readiness. This session will cover the recent enhancements to the system and how to effectively use this system improve graduation and college / career readiness rates.

This session will cover the use and application of Attendance pages and reports in Aeries for daily accounting and mandated reconciliation to ensure compliance with state guidelines and audit requirements.

Supplemental Attendance (#380)
A discussion of this Aeries feature that will include how the system is used and configured. Supplemental Attendance allows the ability to track positive/hourly attendance for supplemental programs such as: ASES, Interventions, Tutoring, etc.

Letters in Aeries - Attendance Letters (#671 )
Aeries Attendance letters provide schools and districts a tool to communicate with parents about student attendance based on district attendance standards. This session will review how to configure and generate school or district-based letters such as SARB or Truancy letters.

Tracking Daily Participation & Weekly Engagement for SB-98 Compliance (355) - California schools only **Updated content
This session will cover the various Aeries tables and tools designed to assist Districts in the documentation and certifications necessary to comply with the provisions of SB-98 for the 2020-2021 Pandemic school year. Updated content will include recent enhancements.

GRADE REPORTING AND TRANSCRIPTS

Standards Based Grade Reporting for Elementary Schools (#400) **Updated content
A review of the grade reporting cycle for Standards Based Grade Reporting, including assigning students a Report Card Type and entering grades. This session will also review printing of report cards and generating Report Card History and Standards Based Grade History.  This session will NOT cover setting up report cards.  See Sessions 401-1 and 401-2 for information on creating report cards. Standards Based Report Cards: Managing Options and Standards (#401-1)

This session will show Aeries users how to establish a Secondary Standards Based Grades Report Card including:creating standards, associating standards with courses, setting up report card options including mark types, and initializing the grade reporting cycle.

Creating & Maintaining Student Transcripts (#420)
This session will present an overview of the processes and procedures related to the daily management of student transcripts. Topics will include configuring transcript definitions, printing various versions of a student transcript, adding and managing course records on transcripts, and the use of Off-Grade Courses.
