Let’s Talk Partnerships, Collaboration, & Student Empowerment

At Aeries, we aim to find solutions for schools, so that they can best serve students and educators. It truly takes a community, from a small group at a district to a larger-scale, state-wide organization. With community, comes the opportunity to form partnerships, collaborate, and find solutions at an even larger scale. These connections ultimately allow us to achieve our goal: to keep our customers, and therefore student empowerment, at the center of everything we do.

Since our launch in Texas in 2019, we have built relationships with many entities within the state, particularly Texas Education Agency (TEA). We value their expertise, and have built strong relationships with various departments, especially in regards to compliance. Additionally, we have worked closely with TEA to develop the maximum interoperability opportunities, via their APIs for Census Block and Unique ID data, allowing districts to have access to real-time data on demand.

Each one of our departments here at Aeries includes at least one TSDS Certified Champion. This allows Aeries staff to have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of our customers with regard to state reporting and other compliance issues that districts might have with TEA. Additionally, in the trying times that COVID caused in education, TEA reached out to us for feedback on various data submissions.

We’re excited to announce that we will be a part of TEA’s pilot program for Texas State Reporting and Ed-Fi: the first pilot program of its kind. ”The Ed-Fi Data Standard is the set of rules for the collection, management, and organization of educational data that allows multiple systems to share their information in a seamless, actionable way”. This project will allow districts to report data on a transactional basis via API, and from multiple sources, including the SIS, test vendors, and more. It will eliminate the need for multiple, redundant data collections, thus reducing the burden on district staff.

In 2019, we began our journey in Texas. Since then, we’ve connected with Jamie Muffoletto, Data Standards and Governance Manager in the Customer Relationship Management & Data Standards Department and Scott Johnson, the Assistant Director of the Customer Relationship Division of the Customer Relationship Management & Data Standards Department as well as Donna Pruitt, the TSDS ODS 3.x Vendor Coordinator to better support our TX districts. These relationships allow us not only to participate as a vendor in the pilot program, but also to give frank feedback regarding the data standards, business rules, and general practices associated with this significant project.

Two of our TX districts – Moody ISD and Edna ISD – will begin this program. With this sense of community and collaboration, districts across Texas will reap the benefits, ultimately ultimately alleviating errors, bottlenecks, and the need for data extensions.

Aeries is not just another SIS vendor; we are a collection of experienced experts in Texas education, compliance needs, and beyond. We are proud to work alongside the agency to modernize the collection of data and its analysis to provide information back to educators to allow them to serve our students well. Because with community and collaboration, our Texas students will go further.
